Common questions

Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?

No. Dermaplaning removes fine vellus hair at the surface and does not affect the follicle. Hair grows back the same color and texture. It may feel slightly blunt at first, but it is not thicker.

Does it hurt, and is there downtime?

It is painless. Most clients feel a light scraping sensation and find it relaxing. Downtime is minimal, and skin may look slightly pink for a short time.

How long do results last?

Skin looks smoother and brighter right away, and results typically last about 3 to 4 weeks as skin naturally renews and fine hair regrows.

Who should not get dermaplaning?

Wait if you have active acne breakouts, a rosacea flare, a cold sore, sunburn, or open skin. Let us know if you have used isotretinoin recently or use prescription retinoids, as your provider may advise waiting.
