About this treatment

Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a purified protein that temporarily relaxes the specific muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, the lines that form when you frown, raise your brows or smile. With those muscles less active, the lines above them soften.

Treatment takes minutes. Your provider marks the injection points based on how your face moves, then places small amounts with a very fine needle. Most clients describe it as a quick pinch. Results typically last 3 to 4 months.

Our approach is natural first: we aim for a rested, smoother look while keeping your expressions. Dosing is tailored to your muscle strength and goals, and we review your result at your two-week follow-up.

Is it right for you?

  • Adults with frown lines (the 11s) between the brows that show when you concentrate
  • Horizontal forehead lines that deepen when you raise your brows
  • Crow's feet that appear when you smile or squint
  • Vertical neck bands along the jaw and neck (platysma bands)
  • First-timers who want a rested, refreshed look with little downtime
  • Busy professionals who want a quick appointment that fits into a lunch hour

Which option is right for me?

Botox is best for lines that appear or deepen when you move your face. Lines that are visible at rest, or areas that have lost volume, may respond better to filler, skin treatments or a combination, which we can plan together.

Botox and Dysport work in a similar way. Some people simply prefer one, and if you have used either before, let us know how it worked for you. Neuromodulators are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for people with certain neuromuscular conditions (such as myasthenia gravis), or with an infection at the injection site. Possible side effects include temporary redness, pinpoint bruising, mild headache and, rarely, a temporary droop of the brow or eyelid. Your provider reviews your medical history before treatment. Like all botulinum toxins, it carries an FDA boxed warning: the effect may spread beyond the injection area and, rarely, cause problems such as swallowing or breathing difficulty. Seek care right away if that happens.

Before and after your appointment

  • Arrive with a clean face; skip make-up on the treatment area if you can.
  • If your doctor approves, avoid alcohol and blood-thinning supplements (fish oil, vitamin E, ibuprofen) for 24 to 48 hours beforehand to reduce bruising.
  • Stay upright for 4 hours after treatment and do not rub or massage the treated areas.
  • Skip strenuous exercise, saunas and facials for 24 hours.
  • Results begin in a few days; we review your result at about two weeks.

Our recommendations

  • Plan to retreat about every 3 to 4 months as movement returns; treatments should not be repeated more often than every 3 months.
  • Book at least 2 weeks before a wedding, photos or vacation so your full result is in place and any touch-up can be done in time.
  • Pair Botox with hyaluronic acid filler such as Lip Filler or Smile Line Filler for lines that are visible at rest or for lost volume.
  • Keep skin looking fresh between visits with a Hydrafacial or Hydrafacial; wait 24 hours after Botox before any facial or massage of the area.
  • First time? Start with a conservative dose, then fine-tune at your two-week check so your next treatment is dialed in.

Common questions

How much does Botox cost?

Botox is $10 per unit. FDA-approved dosing for frown lines is 20 units (about $200), and forehead lines and crow's feet are dosed separately based on your muscles. Your provider confirms units and price before treatment.

How long does Botox last?

Results typically last 3 to 4 months, then gradually wear off. Lines return to how they looked before; they do not get worse because you stopped.

When will I see results?

Many people notice a change within a few days, with the full effect at about 2 weeks.

Will I look frozen?

Not with conservative, tailored dosing. We aim to soften lines while keeping natural movement and adjust at your follow-up if you want more or less effect next time.

Does it hurt?

Most people feel a brief pinch with each injection. The needle is very fine and the appointment takes about 15 minutes.

Is Botox safe?

Botox Cosmetic is an FDA-approved prescription medicine with a long track record when given by a trained medical provider. Neuromodulators are prescription medicines. Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, pinpoint bruising and headache, and a temporary drooping brow or eyelid is possible. All botulinum toxin products carry an FDA boxed warning: in rare cases the effect can spread beyond the injection site and cause symptoms such as muscle weakness, vision changes, or trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing, which need medical attention right away. They are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding or with certain neuromuscular conditions, and your provider reviews your medical history first.
